INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL: Colorful, Entertaining, Tasty Afternoon at MU’s Annual Convergence of Cultures | Nov. 13, 2006 By Tony Rutherford Huntington News Network Writer Photos by Chris Spencer Huntington, WV (HNN) -- The multi-purpose room at the Memorial Student Center became a synergy of cultural and ethnic friendships as international students, community members, and students living in the U.S.A. gathered for fellowship and fun. The exposition featured displays and foods from countries as diverse as Saudi Arabia and Turkey to Japan, China, and Vietnam. Performances ranged from African drums and Indian dance to Russian songs to children of China in “A Smart Little Fox,” Vietnam fashions and Bollywood dancing from India. The Festival of Flags continues at the Student Center this week. This semester more than 60 flags from countries and regions of the world represent international students at the university. On Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. , the Third Annual MU Study Abroad Expo takes place in the MSC lobby where students and faculty discuss learning program overseas, apply for a passport and get immunization assistance. A $250 travel certificate and a $500 scholarship will be given away at the Fair.
